Youth Reading Programs

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a nationally recognized program created to promote early reading and language development for children, in addition to encouraging family bonding through reading. Book Shelf Reading Club promotes reading and language development for children who have graduated kindergarten. To enroll your child, please read the following information.

Program for children ages 0-5 years.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, is a fun way to help prepare your child for Kindergarten. This literacy program encourages parents to form a bond with their children by reading to their newborns, infants, and toddlers. Milestone prizes are included in this program for your little one as they achieve their reading goals. If you are interested in signing your child up for this program, please click here to enroll online, or you can visit the library's front circulation desk to enroll in person.

Program for children ages 6-17 years.

We are excited to launch a new literacy rewards program for readers ages 6-17 years called Book Shelf Reading Club. Readers are encouraged to read 10 books, and they are to keep track of their books read using a book sheet specific to the reading club. As a reward for their achievements they get to choose a prize from the club prize box once all 10 books have been marked off their rewards sheet.
