1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a fun way to help prepare your child for Kindergarten. For every book you read (yes, repeats count!), your child can color in a planet on the coloring sheet. In addition, anytime you sing a song, do a fingerplay, read a poem, etc., your child can color in a circle for each activity!

Participating is easy:

-Parents can enroll their children online or in person at Taylorville Public Library's circulation desk.

-After every book or reading activity, your child can track their reading progress by coloring in a circle on their reading log.

-Once your child has completed their reading log, bring your child's reading log to the circulation desk to claim a prize.

Youth Reading Rewards

Your child's literacy journey continues far after kindergarten, and we have created a program that encourages them to continue in their reading and language development. For every book you read (yes, repeats count!), your child can cross off a book on their rewards card. In addition, anytime your child does an activity involving literacy, they can cross off a book on their card.

Participating is easy:

-Enroll your child in our program online or in person at Taylorville Public Library. All participants must visit Taylorville Public Library to pick up a Reading Rewards card to get started.

-After finishing a book, your child will cross off a book on their rewards card.

-Once your child has crossed off all ten books on their rewards card, bring the card to the library to claim a prize.
