Youth Reading Programs

Star Readers (previously known as 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten) is a nationally recognized program created to promote early reading and language development for children, in addition to encouraging family bonding through reading. Book Shelf Reading Club promotes reading and language development for children who have graduated kindergarten. To enroll your child, please read the following information.

Program for children ages 0-5 years.

Previously known as 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, the new Star Readers program is a fun way to help prepare your child for Kindergarten. This literacy program encourages parents to form a bond with their children by reading to their newborns, infants, and toddlers. Milestone prizes are included in this program for your little one as they achieve their reading goals. If you are interested in signing your child up for this program, please click here to enroll online, or you can visit the library's front circulation desk to enroll in person.

 

If you enroll your child online, you will need to pick up reading log materials at the library's front circulation desk.

Program for children ages 6-17 years.

We are excited to launch a new literacy rewards program for readers ages 6-17 years called Book Shelf Reading Club. Readers are encouraged to read 10 books, and they are to keep track of their books read using a reading rewards punch card. As a reward for their achievements they get to choose a prize from the club prize box once all 10 books have been punched or marked off their rewards card. If you are interested in signing your child up for this program, please click here to enroll online or you can visit the library's front circulation desk to enroll in person.
